This unpolitical site is dedicated to Missing In Action, Luftwaffe Pilots and their family
In 1993, German historian Franz Zimmermann was able to locate the grave of Franz Wienhusen, the Kommandeur of IV./JG 4 and who was, until that time, still posted as « missing in action ». Due to the cordial relationship which I enjoy with many former members of JG 4 and JG 5, I was put in contact with Franz Wienhusen’s widow and I was able to explain to her the location of her husband’s resting place and also how he lost his life. Since then, Mrs Wienhusen and her daughter often visit the grave. She told me that this helps her to confront her bereavement. I wish that the families of all those pilots and air crew listed as « Missing in Action » could be granted such information as to the fate of their husband or father…. maybe you could help.
